Mary Ann and I have been a part in developing a global alliance of Christian faith-based organizations represented by veteran street children workers since we first met together in the UK in September 2005. We've written about this visionary movement several times in our newsletters since our initial meeting. Since then I've served on the steering committee with Andy Sexton of Oasis International working in Uganda, Sarah de Carvalho of Happy Child working in Brazil, Andy Stockbridge of Toy Box based in England but leading ministries in Central and South America and Ian Smith of Viva Network based in Oxford, England. Last October in Cape Town, South Africa we had our first consultation with about 30 people attending where we decided to call ourselves 180° Alliance-United Global Action with Street Children.
This past week we launched our web site which is very informative with a variety of information ranging from describing a street child, how to start a ministry among them along with recommended resource materials and how to get involved with 180°. I recommend you check it out at http://www.180degreesalliance.org and get involved because at the end of the day we're all about God's desire to get kids off the streets by experiencing the fullness His gospel and Christian compassionate care.
