Giving Christmas gifts to those who need them rather than to those who don't
Last Sunday after the worship service at our church, Greenhills Christian Fellowship, one of the elders asked me if his business could give Christmas gifts to street kids through our parties and, of course, I said yes. He said he doesn't want to give gifts to those who already have everything and wouldn't really appreciate them. Evidently he had already discussed this with his office mates and they agreed to forgo their gift exchange and give instead to the needy so they're preparing to to do this through ACTION's evangelistic Christmas party ministry. I even suggested that he and anyone else who desires attend a party and they're looking into this.
This elder works for an international communications company in a plush high-rise office building, high above one of the business districts of Manila. He is also a leader in one of the wealthiest and largest churches in the Philippines. Yet his eyes and heart have been opened and softened by the Lord to minister to the poor which surround us daily. This year he has visited ACTION's ministry to street kids and prison work as well as given financially so he is leading by personal example. I praise God for this dear man who is bridging the ever-widening gap between the haves and have nots. Consider James 2:5
