Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing

Thursday Mary Ann and I spoke at a monthly luncheon for the senior
saints of a supporting church and we had a blessed time. My message
was titled "Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing" with three points
and an application:

1. Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church

2. Jesus Christ is the Lord of the harvest

3. Jesus' Commission given to the church is still our primary mandate
and it has not been withdrawn by the Lord nor has it been completed
by the church.

We cannot allow secondary concerns become our primary concerns and
the Great Commission become secondary which is way too easy and an
enticing temptation by the devil. One of the ways we'll know what our
core values are is by how we spend our time and money, how we use our
skills as well as the content of our praying. It is a fight of faith
to remain committed to keeping the main thing (Jesus and His Kingdom)
the main thing.

The message was well received.

Yesterday I preached twice in a church for the first time though I
attended a men's Bible study and we spoke in a Sunday school class a
few years ago at this church. We'll see what the Lord does with our
ministry among them. After both services we had a few in-depth
conversations which were very good.
