Good meeting, rain & mixing rookies and vets

Yesterday a few of us from SITeam had a good meeting with leaders of Real Christian Fellowship located in Capalong Quezon located about 3.5 hours southeast of Manila. This little out-of-the-way barrio was pummeled by a super typhoon several years ago killing several and injuring many people. Since then we've done lots of ministry there and helped plant this church which is dear to us and the only one in the area. We discussed helping the church feed malnourished kids and helping them generate income which is badly needed.

Since yesterday we've had lots of rain and overnight it was hard with strong wind. The flood and landslide prone Philippines has 20+ typhoons annually between August-December so we're in the middle of it now. Thankfully earlier this week we had a few sunny windy days which helped dry us out but we're soaked again. Being a weather watcher and ready-to-go type I was up during the night monitoring the news, listening to the wind howl and watching the driving rain.

Next Monday-Tuesday SITeam will sponsor a workshop for several churches who are new at working with street kids and their families. We'll have leaders from experienced ministries help us teach some this will be a good mix of rookies with vets. Pray for lots of practical street-level learning.
