While I'm recovering from hip surgery and going through physical therapy I'm reading a lot. Beside reading my Bible and several devotionals I'm working through "Undefeated"
a well written account of the Bataan Death March and the fall of the "Rock" or Corregidor the island fortress at the mouth of Manila Bay to the Japanese Imperial Army in 1942. The inhumane brutality the American and Filipino POWs endured during the March, in the death camps and as industrial slaves is unbelievable but true. Even though these ordinary men and women of a prior generation surrendered they were not defeated. Their story gives me determination to persevere with my recovery which will be long and difficult.
