Tropical Storm Mario, Mayon Volcano: alert, watchful, always
Tropical Storm Mario's (international name Fung-wong) torrential rain brought Metro Manila to a stand still yesterday with floods and landslides causing the evacuation of 10s of thousands of people and severely affecting 513,000+ throughout the Metro and Luzon. Now we're drying out and cleaning up. Earlier this week Mayon Volcano, in Albay province southeast of Manila, starting showing signs of erupting, so 1,000s of folks living within the eight kilometer danger zone were evacuated. With the heavy rain there are reports of lava affecting nearby towns. We're expecting requests for aid and need to be alert and watchful always.
