Our Fish and Bread supplemental feeding ministry is providing food
for 250 malnourished children in five locations 3x weekly for six
months. The total cost is $11,250 or $2,250 per site and we thank God
for these funds. The budget includes food, hygienic training for
mothers, Bible studies for the entire family provided by the host
church, de-worming and multi-vitamins.
While we're feeding the multitudes we're looking for the most needy
kids who may require extra medical attention. Recently in Floodway we
were able to assist a little boy with a severe hare lip through
ministry connections. The boy's parents had looked for help for two
years for their son and our medical contacts were able to fly him and
a parent to Cebu City and perform the surgery free of charge. I saw
the boy and his mom recently and they're very grateful for the care
provided.
Now we're preparing to assist two more little guys from Market 3 in
Navotas. Joseph is 18 months, 3rd degree malnourished and vomiting
worms. We'll provide financial assistance for food and medical care
while he stays with Pastor Mamaril who'll oversee his care. The other
is Eugene an 8 year old with severe pneumonia so we'll provide the
funds for his treatment while he's also under Pastor Mamaril's care.
No wonder the church in Floodway and Market 3 is growing! Both places
are very poor but people are seeing followers of Christ who really
care about their total welfare in the name of Christ.
Pray for us as we're now preparing for our camp next Tuesday-Friday
for street kids and churches in Dasmarinas. Several workers are sick
with the flu and others are quite tired. Pray for health and
strength. Now is the recruitment phase of camp and we have 54 street
kids signed up to attend and we're looking for six more. Pray that
God will bring the kids to camp He wants there.
I'm also very pleased that guys from our Honest Hands life skills
discipleship ministry will assist at camp as junior cabin counselors
as well as Brian, my shadow from Conneticut, who'll help with sports
and Bible studies. Pray for these young people who are learning what
it means to be a servant-leader.
