administered by the Department of Education. This week they've been
studying hard under the guidance of our eight volunteer teachers from
partner churches and tomorrow students and teachers gather for prayer
and encouragement. it was a joy to walk in on the 11 boys (all former
hard-core street kids) at Restorers of the Walls Ministry the other
day and see them studying math, Filipino and English under the
tutelage of Mylin a faithful teacher.
At this time many people we've met in the course of ministry here are
applying to join ACTION--the Malabuyos from California, Brian from
Conneticut, the Shipps from Maryland and the Buchens from Idaho. The
Ortizes from Colorado are long-time friends and supporters are also
seriously looking into their possible involvement with ACTION. This
is stretching and exciting.
Angelica, a deaf 18 year old who attended our September '07 camp is
doing very well in school. I just saw her report card and all the
grades and a comment by the teacher were great. Angelica was very
frustrated and angry at one time for not being able to study due to
her physical handicap so she was hanging out with the wrong crowd and
getting into trouble. Pastor Marlo, of the Agape Christian Church,
recruited her for camp where she met Christ as her Savior and her
life changed. With Marlo's help we found Logos Deaf Learning Center
and got her enrolled where Angelica is a full-time student and loving
it. She's faithfully attending Bible studies and worship services as
well and tutoring two young deaf kids at the church.
The Pulsifers, a family of seven from British Columbia, is with us
for several weeks and they came well prepared to minister. The kids
sing and are mixing well with street kids, mom is a nurse and the
other day scrubbed and treated the filthy infected feet of a street
boy while dad is a photo journalist who's taking lots of photos and
doing interviews we can use. To raise their support the kids sold
8,000 chocolate chip cookies door-to-door, gave guitar lessons,
worked in a restaurant and sponsored a dinner with Filipino food and
cultural dances. 300 people attended the dinner. This family is a
delight to have because they're joyful and aren't complaining,
they're asking good questions and they've come to serve.
