We want to give you an update on the eye surgery that Jeff had done yesterday. We waited until we had seen the doctor today for a follow up visit. Dr Polly Quiram told me yesterday that she was pleased with the outcome of the surgery. She said after removing the build up of membrane tissue, the retina laid down nicely. The gel in his eye was replaced with gas and the gas is supposed to keep pressure on the back of the eye so the cells do not build up again. She sent Jeff home with instructions to rest face down for 24 hours. He actually is somewhat used to that because it is like sitting in an airplane chair. He did very well with the doctor's orders.
Today we had a follow up appointment and Dr. Quiram was very please with how well his eye is healing. She said she could tell that he had kept to the face-down position. His body will naturally replace the gas with new gel so we're thinking that the floaters in his vision will be gone too. He can now hold his head up but he is not supposed to lay on his back, face up. He will wear a patch at night to help prevent hurting it while he sleeps but he is doing quite well. His vision is pretty bad now but that will improve as the gel replaces the gas. We will go back to see Dr. Quiram next Thursday and if all is going well, we will rebook our tickets for Manila.
Thank you so much for your prayers. We had 2 cars offered and we will be picking up one of those cars tomorrow night. The Lord is good and has provided for us in many ways. One of our nephews is planning to move into our apartment by the end of June so we may have a bit of a scheduling situation at that time. We are confident that God's timing is perfect so we continually look to Him.
In Christ,
Mary Ann
