>Yesterday ACTION Philippine's Street Impact Team (SITeam) did our second major relief operation in Calumpit, Bulacan. We gave our usual family pack worth $30.00US consisting of 4 kilos of rice, 4 cans of sardines, a large sleeping mat, large mosquito net, fry pan, cooking pot, water pail and gospel tract to 150 families from three churches and some neighbors. I gave a short message from Psalm 50:15 and we did this in two churches for people from out-of-the-way barrios which were overwhelmed by flood water. I tried very hard to express our love and God's to each person hand-to-hand and eye-to-eye with a "God bless you". The recipients were very appreciative for the practical items and simple message while their lives are slowly returning to a new normal.The pastors and church workers who lead the operation today, although they too are severely affected by the flood, are hard working and caring shepherds of their flocks and neighbors. We were also helped by two pastors we assisted October 7 with relief goods and are active partners in our ministries to children-in-crisis so this is a wonderful example of members of the body of Christ caring for one another in a "day of trouble". After the relief giving we surveyed people's overwhelmed barrios and it must have been horrific because we saw destroyed rice fields which were ready for harvesting in 10 days now lakes, mud and garbage everywhere, furniture and household goods drying in the sun and ruined vehicles. The estimated cost was $4,550.00US which includes our operational expenses and salaries for the day for two staff men.
