Tomorrow Becky, Matt, Mary Ann and I leave for Thailand where we'll get training on child protection and safety from the Child Protection & Safety Network. The sad reality is we need to protect our children, families and ministries from people who seek to take advantage of them so training and vigilance is needed. When we return to Manila we're tasked to help our team develop policies and practices that will enable us to do so.
Our plan to assist earthquake victims in Bohol is gaining traction like capable people from Manila wanting to join us at their own expense and Feed My Starving Children food has been donated to us from two large organizations but we lack cash. We need an estimated $12,000 or we'll need to postpone or cancel our November 16-21 relief operation there. Pray that people are moved to give quickly and generously.
We had trainings last Sunday and Thursday for churches wanting to start ministry among street children. Both were full with pastors and workers who are praying and working hard to get there ministries up and running. Pray they do because street kids are everywhere and to reach them with the gospel and compassionate care requires all of God's people to do something. Our fellowship in Christ and this movement is energizing because we're all in the same ship moving forward together.
