Another fire relief operation even in rainy season

Monday I read in the paper about a large fire that rendered many people homeless who are staying in a hot congested covered basketball court. Later in the day we contacted a couple pastors we know in the area and we organized a relief operation which we did today. We gave 5 kilos of rice, a sleeping mat, mosquito net, cooking pot, pail, eating utensils and a water pail to 50 families. One of the pastors explained the Gospel and I gave a short encouragement before we handed out the items. The folks were very appreciative of the practical items because they lost everything. There are around 3,000 people homeless who are now scattered here and there wondering what to do and where to go next. Even in rainy season fires spread very quickly because the homes are made of flammable light materials and squatter areas are overcrowded so there's very little chance to put out a fire until it burns itself out.
