Our response to Sendong: soldiers need to know when to rest & when to move out

December 16 and 17 typhoon Sendong (Philippine code name) or Washi (international code name) hammered northern Mindanao particularly the cities of Illigan, Cagayan De Oro (CDO) and Dumagete. As of today 1,000 are confirmed dead, 100s missing and 1000s homeless. In CDO ACTION's SITeam has several partner ministries working with street kids and their families with whom we've been in communication since Saturday. In the midst of our evangelistic parties we've been planning a relief operation which we finalized yesterday following our final party for street families. We wanted to go to CDO and give aid to 300 families December 29 but after taking another look at it we decided to postpone this until January 5 due to many good logistical and personnel reasons. SITeam has been hittin' it hard for several weeks so we need to rest and spend time with family and friends so in the meantime we'll pray and wait upon the Lord. We're soldiers of the Cross and like all soldiers we need to know to rest and when to move out according to our Commander's orders.
